PROBLEMS IN THE WORKPLACE are inevitable, due to the large amount of time most people spend there. I address and counsel groups on a variety of issues. Since anger, resentment, and interpersonal conflict often emerge when Dealing With Negativity in the Workplace, it is important that individuals and co-workers deal with problems together. The group and the individual are presented with strategies for overcoming negativity. These strategies are based on the acknowledgment that there are feelings on both sides of the equation. The structural hierarchy of Managers and Employees is often a cause of conflict. Dealing with conflict is best explored through speech, body language and a sincere attempt to listen in a non-judgmental manner. There are specific areas that need to be understood and acted upon when Building Customer Satisfaction. Knowing what the customer needs and how to set the stage through word and action can assist in effectively handling any customer. Stress Management, Time Management, and Building Self-Esteem all require thought and time to discuss and observe the difficulties in producing solutions. Often, stress is the discrepancy between perceived demands and what you think you can actually come up with. How you deal with the facts of life is the most important area of concern. Managing your time is a constant struggle. Are you are constantly in an urgent situation? How does that affect the quality of both your experience in the workplace and the quality of your life? Self-esteem and thoughts about our selves are one and the same. Old wounds may surface at an inappropriate time and affect our performance. Looking at your life in the “should” sense could lead to some unrealistic expectations. In turn, this could lead to a sense of failure in the workplace. It is important to accept our history and build on current concrete strengths. Psychotherapy is very helpful in this area. The importance of employee training and development should be explored thoroughly up to how and when you retire. Any person, who wishes, has the opportunity to debrief from the incident may do so. Members may want to talk about the physical effects, and their intellectual and emotional functioning.
