As one of the counselors on the front lines aiding witnesses to the 9-11 terror attacks and called upon to work with hospital healthcare providers during the height of the Pandemic, I have extensive experience in addressing and counseling groups concerning The Workplace on a variety of different issues.

At Newhouse Psychotherapy, you will recognize the impact that stress and mental health challenges can have in the workplace. These therapy services for organizations focus on creating a healthier, more productive environment by addressing the mental health needs of employees. Newhouse Psychology offers stress management techniques, individual counseling for workplace stress, and substance abuse recovery therapy designed to support your team’s overall well-being.

The three primary workplace issues in which I specialize are Stress Management, Tension in The Workplace, Conflict Resolution and the exceptionally important Critical Incident Counseling.

Stress Management

Chronic stress can take a toll on both individual employees and the overall organization. Our stress management services are designed to help employees cope with workplace pressure, maintain focus, and improve resilience. Through personalized individual therapy sessions, employees can learn practical strategies to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and enhance their mental health. We provide guidance on:

  • Developing healthy stress coping mechanisms
  • Managing work-related anxiety and burnout
  • Improving work-life balance
  • Building emotional resilience in high-pressure environments
By addressing stress early, you can create a more engaged and productive workforce, which leads to better outcomes for both individuals and the organization as a whole.

Tension in the Workplace

Are you feeling ‘stuck’, unmotivated, hate going to work? Are you only seeing people 3 times a week, having difficulty focusing or organizing yourself when working from a home office? Are you overwhelmed by your workload because of poor management or struggling with some difficult personalities in the workplace? Is the workload just too much? Do the different points of view among colleagues stress you out? Do you feel like an outsider, overlooked, or bullied? Do you feel valued? Are you afraid of change or bored because of repetitive work? Do you want a raise? It’s our job to tease out what is going on in your workplace, the things that do and don’t work for you. It's your job to learn how to communicate your needs and manage your time. Let’s get you ‘unstuck’ and help you communicate effectively with your colleagues and superiors.

Workplace Conflict Resolution

Conflict is inevitable in any workplace, but when left unresolved, it can lead to decreased morale and productivity. Our workplace counseling services include conflict resolution strategies to help employees and managers address interpersonal issues, enhance communication, and improve team dynamics. We offer:

  • Mediation services to resolve conflicts between employees or between employees and management
  • Individual therapy for employees experiencing difficulties related to workplace tension
  • Techniques for improving communication and understanding in diverse teams

By addressing conflict in a constructive manner, we help organizations build stronger teams and create a more harmonious work environment

Critical Incident Counseling

Critical incident counseling is a specialized form of therapy aimed at helping individuals cope with the emotional and psychological impact of traumatic events that occur in the workplace. These incidents can include

  • Workplace accidents or injuries
  • Employee fatalities or sudden deaths
  • Acts of workplace violence or threats
  • Natural disasters or other emergencies affecting the workplace
  • Sudden organizational changes, such as layoffs or closures

When these events occur, employees may experience a wide range of emotional responses, including shock, anxiety, grief, anger, or fear. Newhouse Psychotherapy provides workplace support to help employees process their emotions, manage stress, and regain a sense of stability and normalcy.

Choose Critical Incident Counseling for Your Organization

Providing critical incident counseling is essential for organizations that want to support their employees' mental health during difficult times. Newhouse Psychotherapy, offers a range of services that help organizations address the emotional impact of critical incidents:

  • Immediate emotional support: Newhouse Psychotherapy will provide prompt counseling sessions to help employees deal with the immediate emotional effects of a traumatic event.
  • Post-incident follow-up: In addition to immediate counseling, follow-up sessions are offered to ensure that employees continue to receive the support they need to process their emotions and recover.
  • Trauma recovery: Newhouse Psychotherapy specializes in helping employees recover from trauma and navigate the complex emotional responses that follow a critical incident.
  • Group debriefing sessions: For organizations dealing with incidents affecting multiple employees, it’s important to offer group counseling sessions to provide collective support, reduce feelings of isolation, and foster healing.

The emotional and psychological toll of a critical incident can affect employees long after the event has passed. Without proper support, this can lead to increased stress, burnout, absenteeism, and decreased productivity. Critical incident counseling services are designed to address these issues by:

  • Reducing the long-term impact of trauma and stress on employees
  • Helping individuals process emotions and regain emotional stability
  • Providing strategies to manage anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress
  • Encouraging open communication to prevent feelings of isolation
  • Offering tools for resilience and coping during difficult times

By offering mental health support following a critical incident, organizations can help employees recover more effectively and maintain a healthier, more productive workforce.
